Code of Conduct for Food Suppliers

1. Introduction

This Code of Conduct outlines the minimum standards and expectations that BEN FOODS (S) PTE LTD requires from its food suppliers. It is designed to ensure the safety, legality, and ethical sourcing of products and services throughout the supply chain.


2. Compliance with Laws and Regulations

  • Suppliers must comply with all applicable international, national, and local laws and regulations.
  • All food products must meet relevant food safety standards, including labeling, handling, and traceability requirements.

3. Food Safety and Quality

  • Suppliers must implement and maintain robust food safety management systems (e.g., HACCP, GFSI).
  • All food must be free from contamination and handled in sanitary conditions.
  • Products must be regularly tested and verified for quality and safety.

4. Ethical and Fair Labor Practices

  • No child labour, forced labour, or human trafficking is permitted.
  • Employees must be treated with respect and provided with safe working conditions.
  • Fair wages, working hours, and the right to collective bargaining must be upheld in accordance with local laws.

5. Environmental Responsibility

  • Suppliers must strive to reduce environmental impact through sustainable practices (e.g., minimizing waste, reducing water and energy use).
  • Use of harmful chemicals and excessive packaging must be minimized.
  • Suppliers are encouraged to support regenerative agriculture and biodiversity.

6. Animal Welfare

  • Suppliers dealing with animal products must adhere to humane treatment and welfare standards.
  • Animals must be raised in environments that promote health and minimize suffering.

7. Anti-Corruption and Transparency

  • Suppliers must prohibit all forms of corruption, bribery, and fraudulent behaviour.
  • Accurate and complete records must be maintained.
  • Full transparency in pricing, sourcing, and practices is expected.

8. Traceability and Recalls

  • Suppliers must maintain traceability of ingredients and products through all stages of production.
  • A documented recall procedure must be in place and functional.

9. Continuous Improvement

  • Suppliers are encouraged to engage in continuous improvement of quality, sustainability, and ethical practices.
  • Regular audits and performance reviews may be conducted.

10. Enforcement and Consequences

  • Non-compliance may result in corrective actions, suspension, or termination of the business relationship.
  • Suppliers are expected to report any actual or suspected breaches immediately.
